The major venue is Abay Square at the Republic Palace (intersection of Dostyk and Avay ave.). Celebrations will continue with an orchestra concert at Abay Opera Theater which will start at 05.00 p.m.

Condolences to the families of the tragedy victims

The Holiday Inn Almaty is extending condolences to the relatives of those killed in the airplane crash near the Almaty airport and to the SCAT airlines.

President Nazarbayev announced January 31 the National Day of mourning for the victims of the aircraft crash of 29.01.13.

Information:
21 people were killed in an aircraft crash on Tuesday, 29 of January 2013: 16 passengers (1 baby) and 5 crew members. The aircraft Challenger CRJ-200 of the SCAT airlines was flying to Almaty from North Kazakhstan and got crashed in dense fog a short distance from Almaty airport.
